About the role

  • Power Systems Electrical Engineer focusing on power system analysis and electrical system design. Role is hybrid based in various US states including Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems, calculations, study reports, and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks
  • Able to perform field investigations, site surveys, while interfacing with client representatives
  • Quality control of all deliverables within the scope of Electrical
  • Interface with Project Management and Client and liaise with other project disciplines
  • Develop select engineering deliverables including philosophies, reports, specifications, calculations, data sheets, and technical requisitions
  • Perform and lead power system studies including Load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, protective device coordination, harmonic analysis, and reliability assessments.
  • Assist in preparation of power system cost estimates and defining scopes of work for project design and study proposals
  • Ensure work complies with industry codes and standards, including IEEE, NFPA 70/70E, ANSI, NEMA, and applicable local regulations
  • Work with electrical engineers and designers to provide electrical design and deliverables to a variety of projects

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Registered Professional Engineer in one or multiple states preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Chemical, Forest Industries, Pharma/Life Sciences, or Power Generation projects
  • Perform Electrical Design duties associated with project scope of work
  • Demonstrated expertise with ETAP, SKM, EASYPOWER or other power system analysis software
  • Demonstrated expertise with PSCAD and PSS®E software preferred
  • Experience with third party protection settings software (i.e. GE Multilin, SEL AcSelerator software, etc.)
  • Experience with SEL RTAC platform preferred
  • Strong understanding with applicable North American & Canadian codes, standards and recommended practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
  • Strong ethical standards. High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative. Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable
