About the role
- Database Administrator managing Oracle Primavera P6 databases, focusing on installation, security, and user support for effective project management solutions at Westinghouse.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain P6 databases (Oracle/SQL Server)
- Monitor database performance, optimize configurations, and tune for speed.
- Manage user access, set permissions, and implement security policies.
- Develop and execute backup/restore plans, ensuring data recovery.
- Act as the first point of contact for P6 users, providing training, mentoring, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain standards, procedures, and system configurations.
- Work with IT, developers, and Primavera support for seamless operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Construction Management , or related field
- 7+ Years relevant experience managing P6 Primavera applications and project management scheduling support in the engineering, manufacturing or construction industry.
- At least 5+ years' of demonstrated experience in Oracle Database skills (SQL, tuning, backup/recovery, security) plus specific Primavera P6 EPPM knowledge (schema, background jobs, administration guides).
- Proficiency in scripting (SQL, PL/SQL, Shell) for automation and understanding of P6's complex enterprise structure for project management support.
- Familiarity with scheduling tools related to Earned Value Management or Schedule Risk Analysis like Deltek Cobra or Safran as experienced users.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or relevant Oracle Database/Cloud certifications or equivalent are a plus.
- Experience with Oracle RDBMS, including installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
- Experience with the P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) schema, managing P6 databases, understanding background jobs, and general P6 administration tasks.
- Advanced SQL scripting for complex queries, reports, and PL/SQL for automation; strong scripting (e.g. Shell, Python) for efficiency.
- Ability to tune the P6 database (EPPM/PPM) for optimal performance, especially during cleanup and resource-intensive tasks.
