About the role
- SQL Database Administrator at HII’s Mission Technologies, implementing and maintaining database operations for critical security programs. Engaging in cybersecurity and intelligence efforts to support U.S. military and federal partners.
Responsibilities
- Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases.
- Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
- Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
- Maintains security and integrity controls.
- Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
- May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
Requirements
- A Bachelors Degree in related field and 3+ years of experience, OR
- A Masters Degree in related field and 1+ years of experience, OR
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and 7+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of hands-on systems administration of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 - 2022) and enterprise server applications, specializing in Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- 3+ years of experience managing SQL Server integrated within a Microsoft AD domain and forest, including service account security (gMSAs), Kerberos constrained delegation (SPNs), and DNS/DHCP configurations for multi-subnet clusters.
- Experience applying and maintaining a standard security configuration based on SRGs and STIGs.
- Minimum active TS/SCI required to start, candidate must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a CI Poly once selected.
- Must have current Sec+ (or applicable) certification or be willing to complete certification within 90 days of starting employment.
- SQL Server formal training or vendor certifications from Microsoft (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate).
- Formal training or vendor certifications for applications and technologies such as Citrix, Splunk, SolarWinds, ServiceNow.
- Experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB.
- Previous experience with automated deployment tools and approaches (e.g., Ansible).
