About the role

  • Staff Engineer II providing AI automation expertise at Western Alliance Bank, ensuring solutions are compliant and reliable through technical design and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • provide expertise in a suite of technical tools and products in a given domain to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant and reliable
  • identify develop and support needs, as well as taking on design responsibilities supporting project tasks
  • facilitate dialogue and activities to ensure team collaboration including teams outside of your domain
  • develop effective presentations and narratives for their teams
  • own engineering work from design through production support
  • build AI‑enabled and agent‑based solutions, including Generative AI (LLMs) and Agentic patterns
  • apply best practices for reliability, performance, and observability
  • design and build solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse)
  • integrate AI capabilities using Azure OpenAI / Copilot‑style patterns
  • contribute to API and system integrations, including secure authentication (OAuth)
  • create clear technical designs and diagrams to explain how solutions work
  • collaborate with product, engineering, architecture, and business teams
  • provide technical guidance and mentoring within the project team

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related experience IT App Support, IT Development, IT Networking, or similar field
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale systems
  • Intermediate Python skills for building integrations, automation, or AI workflows
  • Hands-on or working knowledge of Generative AI / LLMs and agentic approaches and Azure AI Foundry or similar AI model platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform is a strong plus
  • Understanding of APIs, integrations, and security fundamentals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort supporting production systems
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
  • Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure DevOps while working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals
  • Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level
  • Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills
  • May require up to 25% travel
