PLC Software Developer and Commissioning Engineer developing automation programs for airport logistics. Collaborating with project management and customer service for on-site commissioning and modernization projects.
Responsibilities
Development and adaptation of PLC programs (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, CODESYS) for conveyor systems, baggage handling systems and other automated airport processes
Execution of on-site commissioning (national/international) including functional tests, troubleshooting and optimization
Support for modernization projects of existing systems (retrofit)
Close collaboration with project management, electrical design and customer service
Documentation of software and commissioning processes in accordance with internal standards and customer requirements
Training and handover to customer personnel
Support in the technical assessment of customer requirements and creation of solution concepts during the tender phase
Contribution to the preparation of technical content for proposals and presentations
Requirements
Degree or technician qualification in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable discipline
Several years of experience in PLC programming and commissioning, ideally in conveyor technology or airport infrastructure
Very good knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7 and, if applicable, CODESYS or Beckhoff TwinCAT
Experience with industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, AS‑i, Ethernet/IP)
Knowledge of visualization systems (e.g., WinCC, SCADA)
Understanding of safety-related control systems (SIL, safety PLCs)
High willingness to travel and flexibility (international, including short-notice assignments)
Independent and structured working style
Team player with a customer-oriented approach
Resilience and ability to work under time pressure
Good German and English skills, both spoken and written
Preferable experience in the airport environment or with baggage handling systems
Experience in commissioning retrofit projects
Additional knowledge in robotics or drive technology
