About the role

  • Intern supporting climate risk and exposure analytics at USAA with modeling and data analysis for catastrophe management. Collaborating across teams to address climate impacts and improve resilience strategies.

Responsibilities

  • leverage intermediate business, analytical and technical knowledge in cross-functional collaborations
  • integrate and transform disparate data sources
  • apply quantitative analytical approaches for business objectives
  • incorporate geospatial visualization techniques
  • identify and gather relevant and quality data sources
  • support documentation for peer reviews and compliance

Requirements

  • pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in quantitative field (Actuarial Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Climatology, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Finance, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or other quantitative discipline)
  • competency of mathematical and statistical techniques for fact-based decision-making
  • intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools and climate risk assessment techniques (e.g. hazard-rate change, bias-correction, stochastic event-set conditioning)
  • data visualization skills
  • developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools
  • relevant industry data & methods proficiency
