About the role

  • Data & Insights Lead driving Unity Advisory's data strategy and insights capability. Shaping scalable data foundations and empowering decision-making across a fast-scaling AI-driven advisory business.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver Unity Advisory’s data and insights vision, designing and optimising a modern, scalable data architecture and stack.
  • Lead the development of robust data models, semantic layers, and transformation workflows using DBT, SQL, and Python.
  • Define and implement data governance, quality, and compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with GDPR, cookies, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Build and embed a strong self-service analytics culture using BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, and PowerBI, enabling teams to make data-driven decisions.
  • Lead the optimisation of data tracking and collection frameworks, with a focus on high-quality first-party data strategies (e.g. Snowplow).
  • Deliver measurable efficiency gains through automation, improved processes, and thoughtful technology choices.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure data solutions directly support commercial and strategic priorities.
  • Establish best practices across data engineering, observability, documentation, testing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support experimentation with advanced analytics and AI/ML use cases where appropriate.
  • This role will initially operate in a hands‑on capacity, with the opportunity to shape and build a data team as the function scales.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience leading data, analytics, and BI functions in complex organisations or consulting environments.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable business insight.
  • Deep expertise across BI & Analytics: Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, hex.tech, Streamlit.
  • Data Modelling & Transformation: DBT, SQL, Python.
  • Warehousing & ETL: Snowflake, BigQuery, Fivetran, Airbyte, Snowpipe.
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS and/or Google Cloud.
  • Proven experience designing and embedding data governance, quality, and compliance frameworks (including GDPR and cookie compliance).
  • Track record of building self-service analytics capabilities and scaling data culture across organisations.
  • Demonstrated success in driving measurable efficiency improvements and cost savings through data and automation.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders.
  • Programme and change management experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Asana.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
