About the role
- Senior Accountant ensuring compliance of financial reporting in a leading fintech company. Involves accurate financial accounting, regulatory reporting, and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company’s financial accounting and reporting.
- Manage and execute period-end closings (monthly, quarterly, annual) in accordance with HGB, RechKredV, and applicable IFRS standards where required.
- Prepare, review, and analyze statutory and management financial statements.
- Maintain, reconcile, and substantiate complex general ledger accounts, including accruals, provisions, and intercompany positions.
- Ensure compliant accounting treatment and documentation under HGB and IFRS.
- Lead bank, AP/AR, and balance sheet reconciliations and ensure audit readiness.
- Manage regulatory reporting obligations, including AWV reporting, IFD/IFR regulatory reporting, FinaV notifications, and other supervisory or statistical filings as applicable.
- Coordinate annual audits and foster effective communication with auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure accurate accounting processes within DATEV, including optimization of workflows.
- Support the Head of Finance with budgeting, forecasting, liquidity management, and financial analysis.
- Lead or contribute to finance transformation initiatives (automation, system enhancements, policy updates).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Certified Bilanzbuchhalter preferred.
- Additional certifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) are advantageous, particularly where IFRS is relevant.
- 5–7+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally in a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong expertise in HGB, RechKredV, and practical familiarity with IFRS accounting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with national and EU reporting frameworks (AWV / IFD–IFR / FinaV).
- Extensive hands-on experience with DATEV.
- Proven track record in audit preparation and interactions with supervisory bodies.
- Deep technical accounting competence (HGB, RechKredV, IFRS).
- Strong analytical and conceptual capabilities.
- High attention to detail, reliability, and an organized working style.
- Advanced MS Excel skills; comfortable working with financial systems and structured data.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex accounting issues for stakeholders.
- Proactive, independent, and process-oriented mindset.
- Working proficiency in German.
