Responsibilities

  • **Overall **Job Purpose: **
  • The Junior Trainee Accountant (ACA Trainee) will play a key role in supporting the Finance function of one of Cyprus’s largest insurers and a leading Global Protection & Indemnity Club committed to being the shipping industry’s most trusted and valued P&I insurer. The role is designed for a high‑calibre graduate who is eager to develop strong technical accounting foundations while progressing toward the ICAEW ACA qualification.

Requirements

  • **Key Responsibilities:**
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and process payments and expenses.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Complete month end activities and prepare management accounts.
  • Prepare year‑end financial statements and coordinate with auditors.
  • Assist with VAT returns and regulatory reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Conduct due diligence checks for new payees.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Support the CFO and Finance Team with group reporting and cross border initiatives.
  • Carry out additional duties as required.
  • **Person Specification:**
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance with a minimum of:
  • o **University of Cyprus:** 7.2/10
  • o **UK Universities:** 2:1 classification (60–69%)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with confidence in engaging with colleagues and clients.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel and familiarity with the wider Microsoft Office environment.
  • Solid understanding of core accounting principles, such as the accruals concept.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, a proactive mindset, and a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Greek (required for effective communication within the role).
