About the role

  • Intern assisting in environmental engineering projects at Geosyntec. Focus on water quality tasks and field sampling in Clearwater, FL.

Responsibilities

  • water quality tasks such as water quality sampling, monitoring, and evaluation utilizing industry standard equipment
  • implement field sampling programs, evaluate water quality trends, and perform geospatial analysis
  • develop science-based management strategies for surface water and stormwater resources
  • interpret environmental monitoring data, develop pollutant loading models for waterbodies, and assess stormwater best management practices (BMPs)
  • assist with various projects focusing on pollutant load management (nutrients and bacteria) and restoration planning for Florida waterbodies
  • prepare technical reports
  • perform calculations using computer-based technical tools
  • data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures using industry software such as ArcGIS Pro
  • follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, scientist, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors, and construction personnel
  • potential for fieldwork such as site visits/field operations, stormwater infrastructure inventories and environmental sampling
  • assist with hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) and water quality modeling using industry software
  • assist with water quality evaluations, project feasibility studies, and water quality improvement project designs

Requirements

  • currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s university degree program in a relevant science or engineering discipline
  • degree focus area in environmental science, limnology, marine science, civil, environmental, water resources engineering, or a related field
  • experience with ArcGIS, StormWise (ICPR), and/or Microsoft Office
  • outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites
