About the role

• Engineer enhancing productivity and reliability for DevOps at AI startup in Japan. Focused on automation, observability, and integrating AI into development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support product teams in managing their own DevOps activities by providing tools, best practices, and documentation.
• Developing the tools and common libraries to make development productive and efficient, including internal CLI tools, shared services, and standard development frameworks.
• Design, operate, and improve shared cloud infrastructure (AWS) used across multiple product teams.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines and automate release processes to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Maintain and improve company-wide observability stacks (logging, metrics, tracing) to ensure rapid issue detection and resolution.
• Integrate Generative AI (LLMs) into the development lifecycle (e.g., automated testing, code review assistants) to boost overall productivity.
• Collaborate with product teams to solve common performance, security, or architectural challenges that fall between team boundaries.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to production issues as part of the Product Engineering team.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in backend software development and operations in a Linux/Cloud-native environment.
• Strong coding skills for Cloud-based application development.
• Practical knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including core services (Compute, Storage, Networking).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions) and basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Ability to identify bottlenecks in development processes and propose technical solutions.
• Proficiency in English to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• 3+ years of professional Go programming experience (nice-to-have).
• Experience in microservices development (nice-to-have).
• Experience in designing/implementing systems using event-driven architecture (nice-to-have).
• Experience in participating in on-call or incident handling (nice-to-have).
• Business-level Japanese speaking capability (nice-to-have).
