About the role
- Claims Consultant handling first party and third party Cyber and Technology claims at The Hartford. Responsible for claim file management and litigation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Handling a caseload of first party and third party Cyber and Technology claims
- Conducting investigations and analyzing and evaluating the information learned
- Analyzing and determining coverage, liability and damages based upon the facts of each claim
- Investigate cyber security incidents and determine the cause of network intrusion
- Communicating timely written position(s) to insured and other required parties
- Setting appropriate expense and indemnity reserves
- Developing and implementing resolution strategies through negotiations
- Proactively managing litigation and counsel
- Preparing comprehensive reports and delivering presentations to senior claim leadership
- Providing support and working collaboratively with business partners
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctorate degree preferred
- Minimum of three years handling litigated coverage and/or liability cases as defense counsel or claims handler
- Knowledge of both first- and third-party claims a plus
- Excellent strategic thinking ability and execution skills
- Excellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills; knowledge of insurance coverage issues a plus
- Superior time, task prioritization and desk management skills
- An ability to communicate thoughts clearly and concisely
- Ability to work with only moderate amount of supervision and employ a 'team player' attitude
