About the role

  • Sr. Linux Systems Engineer managing enterprise IT infrastructure and cloud environments for a digital services company. Collaborating with clients and teams to ensure high availability and security of systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support IT infrastructure including server hardware and Linux operating systems
  • Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of Linux OS (RHEL 7, 8, 9)
  • Install, configure, and manage middleware components such as Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, WebSphere
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for OS upgrades (RHEL 7 to RHEL 8), OS hardening, and automation tasks
  • Experience with Ansible Tower / AWX for configuration management and orchestration
  • Build and manage virtual machines in Azure Cloud, including mobility and services migration tool installation
  • Provide guidance and implementation support for OpenShift and Azure cloud environments
  • Interact with clients to resolve system, application, and infrastructure-related issues
  • Analyze application performance and ensure availability and performance objectives are met using monitoring and performance tools (AWS)
  • Lead and contribute to Oracle database migration (11g to 12c) using automated deployment tools
  • Migrate web applications from WebSphere 7 to Tomcat 8, including deployment to AWS cloud
  • Upgrade and manage DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, OpenShift, AWS CodeDeploy
  • Develop AWS CloudFormation templates to automate EC2 provisioning, software installation, and service startup
  • Deploy and manage application updates across different versions on JBOSS and Tomcat environments
  • Ensure system security, compliance, and best practices across on-prem and cloud platforms

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer / Administrator
  • Strong expertise in RHEL (7, 8, 9) administration
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible Automation and Ansible Tower
  • Experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of OpenShift container platform
  • Strong understanding of application servers: Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, WebSphere
  • Experience with cloud migrations and application modernization
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and client communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
