About the role

  • Patent Paralegal providing assistance to patent attorneys in the Intellectual Property Department at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP. Managing patent applications and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support and assistance to patent attorneys in the Intellectual Property Department
  • Helping manage the department’s caseload of private clients while meeting the unique needs of each attorney
  • Accurately completing work assigned by multiple attorneys
  • Assisting with the preparation of provisional, non-provisional and design patent applications
  • Filing applications in the US Patent and Trademark Office and WIPO
  • Preparing and filing responses to Office Actions, assignments, and other documents with the USPTO
  • Preparing documentation for filing patent applications in other countries
  • Working with the attorneys to ensure all due dates are met in advance
  • Establishing and maintaining electronic files according to current firm policies
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies, and procedures
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or needed

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years College degree preferred
  • 5 years of patent prosecution experience
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding and advanced proficiency of task-specific patent prosecution concepts, procedures, and best practices
  • Knowledge of trademark filing procedures in the US Patent and Trademark Office is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, analytical, planning, and proofreading skills
  • Detail-oriented, efficient, and reliable
  • Maintains a “can do” attitude, patience, and a positive team player mentality
  • Ability to work both independently, with a team, and in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple projects and shift priorities simultaneously
  • Works effectively with various types of clients
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams; iManage, and Adobe
