Senior Accountant providing expert-level financial and accounting support at Gates Institute. Managing budgets, grants, and ensuring compliance on funding proposals and expenditures.
Responsibilities
Oversee and track departmental budgets and funding distributions; provide recommendations.
Act as a key partner in all fiscal and operational reporting needs and projects.
Serve as a lead reviewer for business unit reconciliations prepared by other team members.
Performs Payroll Expense Transfers (PETs) and Journal Entries (JEs) as needed in compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.
Prepare and process deposits for large checks and electronic payments, verifying accuracy and coding to the correct speedtypes and accounts.
Review and approval , travels (Concur), and capital expenditure (unless this falls into something above).
Act as a post-award grant administrator and subject matter expert for the business unit.
Work with the PIs and the OGC to coordinate the receipt of funded proposals including: Review notices of grant awards with the PI, making note of any special restrictions.
Respond to requests from funders for information/clarification needed for funding decisions including preparation of other support documentation for grant personnel and budget revision and justification.
Work with the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) in order to identify cost-sharing in proposals and assure accurate accounting.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
4 years of experience working with finances, grants/contracts, budget management, and/or procurement.
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
A master’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
Direct experience with pre- and post-award administration (preferred).
Experience working in an academic medical center (preferred).
Previous experience with University of Colorado, Finance, payroll, A2E and procurement systems (preferred).
