About the role
- Senior Data Scientist providing advanced analytics support using machine learning and data analysis techniques at Sun Life U.S. Collaborating with teams across Pricing, Underwriting, and Clinical areas for risk-based decisions.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced analytics support within Business Analytics function
- Develop and monitor predictive models to support pricing, underwriting, and clinical review processes
- Support implementation of predictive models
- Apply machine learning techniques to streamline and automate processes
- Partner with key subject matter experts to develop predictive modeling and analytic solutions
- Extract and analyze internal and external data sources to answer key business problems related to risk assessment
Requirements
- 4-5 years of experience in developing and implementing data science techniques
- BS/MS/PhD in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field (e.g., data science, computer science, actuarial science)
- Experience with actuarial/pricing, underwriting or related concepts utilized in the health insurance field preferred
- Experience with pricing/underwriting advanced analytics application within property & casualty insurance sector is welcomed
- Business knowledge of insurance sector preferred
- Strong knowledge of data science including conditioning, modeling, integration and visualization
- Strong knowledge of the fundamental statistical and AI underpinnings of data science
- Proactive ownership of problem solving with team members and subject matter experts
- Experience with a broad range of statistical programming languages, applications and data environments (e.g., R, Python, SQL, Tableau)
