About the role

  • Data Scientist at Clipwire Games developing models for game systems and data pipelines. Collaborating with product and development teams for analytics and insights.

Responsibilities

  • Develop statistical models and simulation frameworks to evaluate game systems such as progression, rewards, and in-game economies.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, datasets, and tooling required to support modelling, forecasting, and experimentation infrastructure.
  • Design and implement experimentation frameworks used by product teams to evaluate new features, balance changes, and content releases.
  • Partner closely with development teams to ensure reliable in-game data collection and robust instrumentation for analytical systems.
  • Write production-quality code for data transformation, modelling, and simulation using modern data and software development practices.
  • Develop reusable libraries, tools, and frameworks that support experimentation, statistical analysis, and game system modelling across titles.
  • Forecast the impact of design changes using predictive models and simulation techniques.
  • Maintain clear documentation, version control, and reproducibility standards for analytical code and modelling workflows.
  • Support complex technical investigations involving large-scale player behaviour datasets and game system performance.

Requirements

  • Expert-level SQL and strong Python — writes clean, well-structured, production-quality code
  • Comfortable owning data infrastructure end-to-end
  • Deep statistical knowledge — experimental design, causal inference, Bayesian methods, and distribution modelling
  • Hands-on experimentation experience: power analysis, sequential testing, multivariate design, and correct result interpretation
  • Experience building economy models or simulations — understanding of virtual currencies, balance dynamics, and forecasting
  • Highly self-directed — able to scope, prioritise, and deliver complex technical work independently
  • Able to communicate technical approaches and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Background in mobile or free-to-play games is a strong asset

Benefits

  • 15 days holiday in addition to bank holidays to relax and refresh throughout the year - with every 5 years of service, you’ll receive an extra 5 days!
