About the role

  • Senior Database Administrator ensuring stability of S&C Electric's database systems. Responsible for installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of database software.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of database systems.
  • Create robust new storage database structures, incorporating high-level security features.
  • Manage existing database storage structures and adapt configurations to meet the evolving needs of the company.
  • Own the process of managing database user accounts, ensuring permissions and access controls are programmed correctly and compliant with departmental guidelines.
  • Offer training to end users on how to access the information in the database.
  • Identify, analyze, and debug issues related to malfunctioning programs, ensuring the integrity of the database remains unscathed.
  • Create and maintain database backups, safeguarding critical data against unforeseen events.
  • Responsible for proactively updating the database security protocols and staying abreast of industry best practices and technological improvements to implement compliant protocols.
  • Collaborate, both internally with other database administrators to maintain Oracle EBS Application tiers, and externally with cross-functional teams, offering expertise in addressing SQL database requirements for a diverse set of applications.
  • Follow the existing development workflow processes and make recommendations for improvements to enhance the efficiency of database-related activities.
  • Undertake other IT projects and tasks as assigned by IT functional leadership.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
  • Improve/enhance business processes and update standard work procedure documentation
  • Complete assignments as a member of a project team and lead small to medium-sized projects.
  • Communicate status, issues and resolutions to business clients, supervision, and project managers.
  • Follow established IT standard work procedure documentation and best practices.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Provide off-hours, on-call support for Oracle EBS as needed.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Information Systems / Computer Science / related field or equivalent work experience supporting.
  • Demonstrated work Experience supporting Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x or higher.
  • Demonstrated work Experience working in Unix or Linux Operating Systems
  • Demonstrated work experience as a Database Administrator or a similar role, showing in-depth knowledge of managing database systems.
  • Familiarity with database design, coding, and documentation, including database backup procedures, and recovery systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and other applicable programming languages.
  • Rounded troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, emphasizing a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues affecting database integrity.
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently, driving forward impactful projects with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for conveying information to diverse stakeholders. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and end users is a key strength.
  • Willingness to adapt to the ever-evolving technological landscape, staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
