About the role
- Hydraulics Engineer at STV providing hydrologic and hydraulic studies for transportation projects. Involvement in stormwater management, client interactions, and team mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Independently prepare Storm Water Management Reports and culvert/bridge hydrologic & hydraulic studies
- Independently prepare and submit stormwater permit documentation through various agencies
- Participate in project development meetings
- Serve as the lead drainage engineer on projects as directed by senior staff.
- Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, storm water management, green stormwater, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control.
- Coordinate design development and assist with technical direction of junior staff
- Achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
- Independently prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
- Establishing working relationships and interface with client technical staff and project managers
- Mentoring supporting water resource design staff
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A MS degree in Engineering is a plus (Civil, Biological, Agricultural, or another related discipline)
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction
- Candidate should possess knowledge and experience of SCDOT and Local government design and permitting requirements. NCDOT or GDOT experience is a plus. Alternative Delivery experience is a plus.
- Must be able to drive a car and have own transportation
- Lead small to large Civil projects.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience of Water Resources and Storm Water Design Engineering - design of storm drains, culverts, storm water management, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and Floodplain studies, and environmental permitting, along with cost estimating
- PE licensure in South Carolina is required. Multi-state licensure is a plus.
- Water and sewer design experience is a plus, including relocation plans for transportation projects, and/or site utilities.
