About the role

  • Senior Automation Engineer guiding technical design for BAS/BMS/PLC systems at Stantec. Managing project scopes, timelines, and design quality while mentoring the technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Guides the technical design of projects as subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team.
  • Manage the complete design and scope of services for each project; review timeline and hours budgeted; address inconsistencies with the client and Project Manager.
  • Delegate the designing of engineering subsystems to team members in their discipline.
  • Manage and deliver the detailed design of the entire engineering system; apply extensive knowledge of building codes and standards; perform equipment selection.
  • Manage technical risk, quality, and avoid redesign.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines ensuring all automation and controls-related work is incorporated into the design.
  • Conduct project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews done by the technical authority.
  • Participate in the preparation, review, and approval of RFPs response content and pricing.
  • Acts as supervisor and resource to the technical design team; supports staff education and development.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices and principles in own discipline and basic knowledge of practices and principals in other disciplines.
  • Minimum 10 years related industry experience.
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification based on expertise preferred.
  • Experience in engineering design, consulting, or other facets of DDC or PLC industry for tenant improvement projects, new construction buildings, central plant work, existing facility upgrades or related markets.
