About the role

  • Designer at Stantec supporting a Project Architect in design through construction phases. Focused on multiple projects and coordination with project teams in architectural practice.

Responsibilities

  • Work with general guidance and direction from a Project Architect
  • Support the Project Architect by coordinating with the project team and consultants
  • Attend meetings with contractors and owners
  • Support multiple projects at various phases of design and construction
  • Assists in the planning, organization, and directing of the work throughout the life cycle of the project
  • Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models
  • Experience with creating construction project documents in all Revit phases
  • Assists interpreting and applying building codes
  • Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases
  • Participates in bidding and negotiation phases and prepares addenda
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs
  • Prepares site observation reports and other contract administration tasks
  • Assists in project coordination and meetings with internal and external team members
  • Visit project sites with clients as necessary
  • Assists in the preparation of project specifications
  • Participate in constructability review
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
  • Assists in ensuring that work conforms to project budget and schedule

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or bachelor’s degree in support of licensure criteria required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes, applicable building codes
  • General understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • General knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning and adjacencies in coordination with building program
  • To develop floor plans, wall sections, and details
  • To check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • To participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production
  • To engage in creative and critical thought
  • To hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively
  • To interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material
  • To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written)
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Sefaira and Bluebeam
