About the role
- Senior Database Administrator supporting Oracle systems for the State of Michigan. Participating in 24x7 software and hardware support without on-call coverage.
Responsibilities
- Participate in 24x7 software and hardware support for complex applications in several versions of Oracle
- Follow and enforce database standards, policies & procedures
- Monitor space allocation across databases
- Calculate disk space requirements for existing and/or new installations
- Modify DBMS parameters based on capacity changes
- Configure and execute database integrity checks
- Install database base management software for development and test environments
- Install database patches and service packs for development and test environments
- Implement the strategy to release unused space or repair fragmentation in test and development environments
- Execute scripts for creating and modifying database objects
- Monitor database jobs and scheduled processes in different environments
- Follow standards and guidelines for database space allocation.
Requirements
- 15+ years of Database administration specifically on Oracle 18c and upwards
- 5+ years of experience creating, updating and maintaining systems documentation
- Experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) database solutions
- Experience supporting database replication and backup environments
- Experience supporting clustered database environments
- Experience monitoring production database environments and troubleshooting outages
- Previous State of Michigan experience
