About the role
- Lead Software Engineer for Mainframe application development and support in Chennai. Collaborating with teams in India and US for technical execution and modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical execution and support of mainframe applications and infrastructure within a complex z/OS environment.
- Manage full lifecycle of mainframe solutions—from design to deployment—while partnering with teams in India and US.
- Drive deliveries on key projects, initiatives and modernization efforts in Mainframe.
- Monitor and control all phases of development process i.e. analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation and providing operational support to business units.
- Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews and promote a culture of knowledge sharing within the team.
- Facilitate cross-functional efforts to drive innovation in mainframe projects.
- Mentor and guide teams in executing projects and supporting the environment.
- Drive high-availability and recovery planning for mission-critical mainframe applications.
- Provide 12x7 On-Call Support on weekly basis to support production-related incidents.
- Manage and close issues with thorough investigation and sustainable solutions.
Requirements
- 5 to 9 years of technical experience in Mainframe application development and support
- Must possess good knowledge on CICS, COBOL, DB2, MQ, VSAM, and JCL
- Familiarity with DB2 tools, File-Aid, scheduler and debugger tools
- Good CICS System and MQ knowledge would be valuable
- Knowledge of Java & Python will be nice to have skillset
- Must be motivated, self-driven and consistently delivering effective solutions.
- Adhere to all FIDELITY standard operating procedures (e.g. Change Control, Problem Management, etc.)
- Must be a quick learner and adapt to new tools and technologies
- Project management capability would be an added advantage
