About the role

  • Providing legal counsel on corporate-related matters, preparing and vetting contracts for SGI. Collaborating with business areas, providing strategic legal advice, and overseeing external counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel is responsible for providing legal opinions for various corporate-related matters.
  • Prepares, reviews, and vets corporate contracts and agreements of moderate to high complexity.
  • Provides legal advice to the corporation in the areas of legislative interpretation, regulatory compliance, and contractual issues.
  • Conducts legal research and prepares legal opinions as directed.
  • Maintains knowledge of insurance law and legal trends.
  • Oversees external counsel to ensure adherence to standards.

Requirements

  • A Law Degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution.
  • Called to the Bar in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
  • Experience in the general practice of law with a focus on corporate insurance law.
  • Must have successfully completed articles and be a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
