About the role
- Community Birth Liaison Midwife supporting collaborative relationships between health services and independent maternity care providers. Focused on safety, informed decision-making, and continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Support safe, respectful, and collaborative relationships between health services and independent maternity care providers
- Strengthen communication and support safe, timely hospital transfer pathways for families choosing non-hospital birth options
- Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed and non-judgemental support to families
- Act as a key point of contact to facilitate access to antenatal care, counselling, information, and back-up medical support when required
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure practice aligns with National Safety and Quality Standards and Barwon Health values
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to positive outcomes
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or Master qualification
- Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced organisational skills
- Ability to think critically and confidence in decision making
- Understanding of the contemporary challenges in Maternity Care in Australia
