About the role

  • Community Birth Liaison Midwife supporting collaborative relationships between health services and independent maternity care providers. Focused on safety, informed decision-making, and continuity of care.

Responsibilities

  • Support safe, respectful, and collaborative relationships between health services and independent maternity care providers
  • Strengthen communication and support safe, timely hospital transfer pathways for families choosing non-hospital birth options
  • Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed and non-judgemental support to families
  • Act as a key point of contact to facilitate access to antenatal care, counselling, information, and back-up medical support when required
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure practice aligns with National Safety and Quality Standards and Barwon Health values
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to positive outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or Master qualification
  • Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced organisational skills
  • Ability to think critically and confidence in decision making
  • Understanding of the contemporary challenges in Maternity Care in Australia
