Responsibilities
Work with vendors to optimize generator systems based on system and customer requirements.
Provide support for legacy generator systems.
Work closely with a team of engineers and vendors to develop designs based on system performance and operational specifications.
Analyze, simulate, test, and document power generation and conversion (and related analog) circuitry.
Work to further our department’s mastery of power generation and help develop related best practices.
Resolve production and obsolescence issues related to existing generator product designs.
Support both in-field and reach-back troubleshooting, subsystem/component/benchtop repairs & regression testing.
Instrument and collect measurements on equipment (voltage, current, temperature) using electronic test and data acquisition equipment.
Present reviews of technical data to program leadership, technical staff, and customer community.
Manage related risk discussions.
Lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.
Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers.
Help to understand what opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front.
Requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years’ of prior relevant experience.
8+ years of experience in power generation, power system design, power conversion, power distribution, power sub-system design and/or control systems.
Experience in modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools.
Experience with safety issues related to working with and servicing rotating electromechanical systems and high voltage systems greater than 500VAC.
