About the role

  • Senior Performance Engineer developing and maintaining dynamic system models and simulation tools at Collins Aerospace. Collaborating with teams to enhance consistency and efficiency in aerospace systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain dynamic system models and simulation tools to support advanced landing gear systems.
  • Perform static and dynamic loads analysis, including landing impact simulations, retraction/extension modeling, while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Establish, document, and validate test criteria for landing gear systems, correlating analytical models with test data.
  • Support quality investigations, in-service performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to align technical requirements and drive program success.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior team members, fostering skill development and team growth.
  • Track and mitigate risks, resolve blockers, and drive continuous improvement in processes.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent tools.
  • Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics of machinery, fluid dynamics, and/or control theory.
  • Familiarity with coding and simulation environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or related industries.
  • Expertise in landing gear development or dynamic loads environments.
  • Proficiency in Multi-body Dynamics (MBD) tools, such as Adams.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., CATIA V5).
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools, such as Nastran or Abaqus.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDE) and version control systems like Git.
  • Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, such as TeamCenter.
