About the role

  • Managing Director leading the execution of Convenings and Networks initiatives for the Rockefeller Foundation. Overseeing strategic programs and partnerships to advance the Foundation’s priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of the Convenings and Networks strategy aligned with Connected Leaders priorities
  • Oversee Bellagio Center programming, including convenings and residencies, ensuring excellence in design, execution, and participant experience
  • Guide select New York-based convenings that leverage the Foundation’s presence as a strategic platform for dialogue and collaboration
  • Provide leadership oversight of The Rockefeller Foundation fellowship programs, including fellow selection, preparatory programming, and cohort engagement
  • Manage and strengthen priority strategic partnerships aligned with program objectives
  • Advance convening design and network engagement practices and advise internal teams on effective engagement approaches
  • Oversee investment decisions and budget allocation across workstreams, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and performance against goals
  • Lead and develop the Convenings and Networks team, including coaching, performance management, and professional development
  • Represent the Foundation in external forums and cultivate relationships with partners, validators, and institutional leaders
  • Strengthen collaboration across Foundation teams to align convening and network initiatives with institutional priorities

Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in philanthropy, nonprofit, global enterprise or similarly complex environments
  • 5+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex program portfolios preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience managing significant budgets and overseeing grantmaking partnerships
  • Ability to independently translate strategy into end-to-end execution, set priorities, manage tradeoffs, and remain accountable for delivering results in dynamic environments
  • Demonstrated skill in building, sustaining, and navigating relationships with complex, geographically dispersed, global organizations across sectors and organizational scales
  • Proficiency in using software tools and data to produce deliverables, track progress and outcomes, and proactively manage work with minimal oversight
  • Capacity to travel domestically and internationally as required to support convenings, partnerships, and program delivery.
