About the role

  • Corporate Accountant supporting Corporate Finance at RioCan by processing financial adjustments and reconciliations. Engaging in internal and external reporting and audits for financial accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various corporate accounting areas, such as but not limited to; eliminations, consolidations, fee generation, overhead cap, GST / HST, bank reconciliations and / or cash distribution.
  • Review daily transactions, month end schedules and reconciliations.
  • Respond to transactional accounting questions and issues.
  • Prepare and record transactions to journals and General Ledger.
  • Prepare legal entity financial statements.
  • Prepare internal and external reports.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Support preparation and coordination of internal / external audits.
  • Liaise with other departments in regards to accounting matters.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual internal / external reporting.
  • Ad-hoc analysis / Projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of College Diploma or Certificate Program in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designationMinimum 3 years previous relevant experience
  • Knowledge of current accounting practices and principles (IFRS & GAAP)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Proven organizational skills, time management skills and ability to work with other departments
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • Experience with Yardi is an asset
