About the role

Responsibilities

  • Help manage Relay’s PR and customer surveys to gather rich data that will support our external thought leadership and media storytelling
  • Maintain an always-on internal customer research engine to uncover compelling and unique stories among the small businesses who use Relay to manage their cash flow
  • Conduct regular, remote 1:1 customer interviews to meet the real people behind the businesses, capture their stories and distill them into exciting PR case studies
  • Support the planning, drafting, editing of key announcements and news moments at Relay
  • Help compile the key pieces of a compelling PR pitch, including photography/creative, new data/statistics, customer bios, written quotes, contact information and UTM links
  • Assist with content QA, and fact-checking
  • Help maintain PR calendars, documentation, and workflows to keep projects organized and moving forward
  • Contribute to PR performance tracking by helping to maintain performance metrics measuring the impact of news coverage, and PR events and activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Data, Lifecycle Marketing, Product Marketing, Design) to share insights, align on messaging and oversee multi-step projects.
  • Pitch ideas for new stories, formats, or improvements based on what’s trending

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in PR, Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field
  • You enjoy writing and editing, and are excited to develop your voice and craft in a professional setting
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple projects at once
  • You’re curious by default—you like understanding *why* things work and how ideas connect
  • You’re comfortable working with feedback and revising your work accordingly
  • You have strong written communication skills and are eager to continue improving them
  • You can spot a compelling case study from a mile away and understand the secret ingredients to bold and exciting customer storytelling
  • Familiarity with small business storytelling or conducting large-scale surveys
