About the role

• Head of Engineering at Rabobank overseeing engineering strategy, technology stack governance, and talent management across Australia and New Zealand for the financial sector.

Responsibilities

• Set engineering strategy and ways of working, embedding best practices, removing delivery impediments, and leading talent management, resourcing, and capacity planning to optimise the engineering resource mix.
• Oversee selection, implementation, and governance of the technology stack in line with global and local architecture standards; own key vendor relationships under the Vendor Management Framework; and develop and monitor SLAs with global and local stakeholders.
• Fulfil FAR responsibilities as directed by the General Manager, Technology, and provide 24/7 executive oversight for incidents or crises impacting Australia and New Zealand, including critical infrastructure and applications.
• Plan, support and contribute to Technology Strategy with the Technology LT and key business partners across Australia and New Zealand to meet global and regional objectives.
• Consolidate department-specific Technology Stack in line with the RANZ Technology Strategy and identify emerging information technologies relevant to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the organisation.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, make strategic decisions, and provide strategic technical directions.
• Accountable for ongoing improvements and changes to existing Technology Stack.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Risk Security and Audit to ensure Technology Stack has effective controls in place.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in IT within banking or financial services, with strong exposure across software development, testing, business analysis, and technology risk and governance.
• Proven capability leading and delivering large, complex technology initiatives, including experience building, managing, and developing high performing teams.
• Experience in managing and assessing risks and incorporating them into business decision-making.
• Advanced stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level, communicate effectively with business and technology leaders, and drive outcomes through collaboration.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with a track record of uplifting engineering practices, delivery effectiveness, and operational maturity.
