About the role

  • Sr CAD Engineer creating and modifying PCB designs at Qorvo. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to optimize designs from concept to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify PCB Designs and detailed CAD drawings with keen attention to DFM/DFA/DFT requirements.
  • Contribute as an individual as well as collaborate closely with RF Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Test Development Engineers to create designs from concept thru manufacturing and test.
  • Independently execute end-to-end PCB design using Cadence tools, including schematic entry, detailed layout, and library management from project inception to fabrication files.
  • Proficient in leveraging in-process verification; schematic audit and 3D canvas; setting-up physical and electrical constraint rules to meet design requirements, placement, Signal and Power integrity and DFx.
  • Advance knowledge in utilizing Tools Report function and Find by Query (FbQ) for verification and data reporting and process preparation.
  • Able to execute reusability of previous works for productivity; re-use models, placement, stack-up, routing, constraint rules, and film set-up.
  • Create design output for both manufacturing and assembly using Drawing View Manager and Drawing Designer.
  • Ensure timely project delivery by managing schedules, milestones, and rigorous documentation standards.
  • Generate and review all manufacturing outputs (Gerber, ODB++, FAB drawings) to guarantee accuracy and compliance with fabrication standards.
  • Review and address queries from fabrication and assembly houses regarding stack-up, DFM/DFT issues, and documentation clarification, providing timely technical support.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams to optimize designs for performance, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct and participate in design reviews, focusing on schematic integrity, PCB stack-up, controlled impedance, and manufacturability, and maintain traceable change records.
  • Champion continuous improvement by updating design guidelines, participating in process enhancements, and mentoring junior designers.
  • Skilled in integrating Skill automations with PCB design methodologies to automate and enhance productivity and customizing Allegro PCB Editor workflows. Experience in developing and debugging Skill scripts is a plus.

Requirements

  • BSE Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in PCB design, including high-speed and multilayer boards.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Cadence Allegro, and AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of DFX and PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently, effectively manage timelines and expectations, and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • RF High-frequency design knowledge with heavy experience on ATE multisite load boards and probe cards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in both electrical and mechanical design, experience with Solidworks is a big plus.
