About the role

  • IT Infrastructure Engineer managing network and digital infrastructure for Physicians Insurance, a boutique mutual insurance company. Collaborating on design, deployment, and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing, building, deploying, securing, and maintaining the organization’s digital network.
  • Handle hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software to ensure reliable, efficient connectivity, performance, and security.
  • Troubleshoot, upgrade, monitor, and collaborate with other IT teams to align with business goals.
  • Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure IaaS environments.
  • Administer and optimize VMware vSphere infrastructure.
  • Implement and monitor enterprise backup solutions.
  • Lead backup verification, restoration, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Install, patch, and update server-based applications and operating systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis on complex infrastructure and backup failures.
  • Manage infrastructure, network, and server projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive standards, procedures, and system configuration documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience or job-related continuing education is highly desirable.
  • 7+ years of experience in a progressive Information Technology role, including at least 5 years of dedicated experience as a Infrastructure/Network Engineer.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of current network and internet protocols, standards, and hardware configurations.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and logical thinking to resolve complex cloud, hardware, and software issues.
  • Advanced experience with core end-user applications, including Microsoft operating systems and the Office suite.
  • Solid understanding of applicable data privacy laws, compliance regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to conduct independent research into emerging products and system issues to drive continuous improvement.
  • Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented professional, capable of prioritizing and executing multiple tasks within a fluid, fast-paced environment.
