About the role

  • Database Administrator ensuring high availability, integrity, and security of databases for a market-leading online pharmacy. Collaborating with developers and troubleshooting to optimize data management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all database platforms are highly available
  • Ensure all data sources are secure and access is controlled, reviewed, and audited
  • Support BI developers, application experts and middleware developers in their efforts to integrate and report on data in an accurate and reliable manner
  • Work with third parties for new installations, upgrades, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and general advice and guidance as required to ensure all delivered services meet requirements
  • Respond to support escalations from DevOps and technical colleagues, providing specific expertise for troubleshooting as required
  • Build strong relationships in the business to understand business objectives, specific data requirements and how the data you maintain adds value to the business
  • Controlled execution of data management tasks
  • Configure, maintenance and get maximum value from proactive monitoring using tools such as Redgate and New Relic
  • Population and maintenance of software development lifecycle environments

Requirements

  • Experience with tools such as SQL Server 2019 and Azure SQL
  • Proven ability as a Database Administrator in a similar role
  • Strong operations experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Experience of performance tuning and optimizing
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft T-SQL
  • Excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience using native and third-party performance monitoring tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor and New Relic
