Responsibilities
You will lead the global Customs Governance unit within the Taxes & Duties department and are responsible for building and continuously developing the global governance function for all customs activities by defining policies and control mechanisms and by strategically advancing customs-related IT applications.
Together with your colleagues, you will analyze existing customs processes, incorporate defined governance requirements and harmonize global process landscapes together with the operational customs units to ensure efficient implementation.
You will develop methods for customs risk analysis, identify and evaluate compliance risks using these methods, and manage corresponding mitigation measures.
In addition, you will assess and improve the use of customs procedures and free trade agreements and advise internal stakeholders on optimization opportunities.
Together with your team, you will provide subject-matter support for global customs audits and advise on complex customs law issues and disputes, while also building strategic relationships with customs authorities and TAXUD and representing the company in regulatory discussions.
Requirements
Completed Master's or Diplom degree in economics, law or finance (customs)
Several years of professional experience in customs consulting, customs authorities or the customs department of an international company, ideally with experience in establishing governance structures
Solid knowledge of customs and foreign trade law and a confident understanding of compliance and risk management in the customs context
Very good German and English language skills
Strong advisory and communication skills, strategic thinking, assertiveness and proven leadership experience
