About the role

  • Head of Data Platforms & Engineering at Pepperstone. Leading enterprise data strategy and overseeing global data teams in a fintech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the enterprise data strategy and roadmap ensuring strong alignment to business goals.
  • Evolve our data architecture from warehouse to lakehouse and beyond enabling scalable modern and future ready platforms.
  • Drive the organisation’s shift toward data product ownership stewardship and data driven decision making.
  • Build coach and inspire global teams across data engineering data platforms data systems and governance.
  • Oversee and modernise data infrastructure tools and systems transitioning from legacy technologies to next generation solutions.
  • Partner closely with senior leaders across the business translating complex data initiatives into clear compelling business narratives.
  • Collaborate with AI business analytics and BI teams to strengthen foundational analytics and support enterprise wide insight generation.
  • Ensure robust data governance regulatory compliance and alignment with our data protection obligations.
  • Champion data literacy and foster a culture of curiosity engagement and continuous learning.
  • Play an active leadership role in the broader technology organisation modelling Pepperstone’s values and leadership behaviours.

Requirements

  • Bring 10+ years across data systems engineering or architecture roles and 5 plus years in senior technology leadership.
  • Proven experience leading high performing globally distributed data teams.
  • Deep expertise in modern data architecture and technologies such as Snowflake Redshift dbt Fivetran Airflow Iceberg and Alation.
  • Hands on programming capability in languages such as Python Spark Scala or Golang for data engineering use cases.
  • Strong background in streaming and event pipelines and integration patterns including Kafka Flink and APIs.
  • Experience in regulated Financial Services or FinTech is highly desirable.
  • Executive level communication and stakeholder influencing skills able to shape conversations negotiate priorities and build strong cases for investment.
  • Strategic innovative and commercially minded leadership style.
  • A passion for technology problem solving and enabling teams to move fast with confidence.
