Responsibilities
You code medical services and revenue-relevant additional services independently and on a case-by-case basis (grouping diagnoses, procedures and other DRG-relevant matters using electronic patient records for outpatient and inpatient cases at the clinic), including release for billing
Advise medical, nursing and therapeutic staff on medical documentation and case management
Review the completeness and formal correctness of medical and nursing documentation
Examine individual cases, handle payer and MDK inquiries and assist in the preparation and execution of billing audits
Support clinics in MDK management and develop clinic-specific negotiation strategies, as well as coordinate and cooperate in litigation/settlement procedures
Provide back-up support for primary coding as part of a substitution arrangement
Requirements
Completed medical or nursing vocational training (or equivalent) and ideally professional experience
Completed further training as a DRG coding specialist and preferably experience as a coding assistant, ideally in a hospital setting
Knowledge of classification systems (ICD/OPS), German coding guidelines and billing regulations, and experience with MDK management
Strong IT skills and proficiency with common office software (Microsoft tools) as well as clinical workstation systems or hospital information system software
High degree of initiative, strong communication and team skills
