About the role
- SCADA Engineer supporting PG&E’s electrical grid operations with ADMS-based solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams for real-time operational support and system standardization.
Responsibilities
- Supports system design and testing activities aligned with the product vision set by the Product Owners.
- Performs technical evaluations to incorporate new devices and capabilities that evolves the technical vision.
- Creating new technical standards that support future needs while driving system standardization.
- Makes tradeoffs among technical options to balance execution, support, and vendor risk.
- Makes tradeoffs among technical options for a portfolio of products.
- Assesses system failures, identifying root cause, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provides data queries and reports to inform Grid Operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
- 2 years of electric utility related experience
- Experience with grid modeling software (e.g. CYMDIST, PSLF, Aspen, etc)
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills
- 3–7+ years of experience with SCADA, control systems, or real-time operational technologies
- Strong knowledge of DNP3, Modbus, 2179 PG&E, IEC 61850 or similar protocols
- Experience with ADMS platforms (Schneider Electric preferred) including device modeling, application behavior, and CU/HF deployment processes
- Hands-on experience with grid automation devices (S&C, SEL, Siemens, etc)
- Proficiency in analyzing telemetry data, communication logs, network models, and system events
- Familiarity with key Electric Operations systems such as GIS, DMS, OMS, etc.
- Knowledge of distribution equipment
- Experience working with the following tools: Jira, MS Excel, Foundry, Power BI
- Programming with SQL, Python, C#, etc.
