About the role

  • Construction Manager overseeing construction and improvement projects in electric transmission system. Coordinating with crews and inspectors, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for construction and improvement projects in the electric transmission system
  • Identifies contract worthy projects, consults on project feasibility and project site details
  • Coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and on a project specific basis performs construction oversight
  • Prepares job packages and construction estimates, conducts job walks, and meets with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies
  • Ensures projects are completed per company standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedule
  • Compiles and interprets internal drawings and relevant data for the RFP and contract processes, renegotiates contract scope with contractor when needed
  • Consults and clarifies technical details for contractors
  • Leads job walk downs with Project Managers and/or Transmission and Substation Maintenance and Construction Supervisors
  • Monitors daily construction activities and ensures the construction operations meet safety, quality, cost and schedule goals
  • Acts as point of contact for construction contractors,
  • Ensures contractors follow safety plans, project environmental/land permits and PG&E safety rules and processes
  • Oversees the Inspection of the construction work

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in the field of Industrial engineering or Construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in utility construction
  • 9 years working experience in the field of Industrial Engineering or Construction (Desired)
  • Working Knowledge Primavera P6, Unifier, Primavera Contracts Manager, Prolog or similar (Desired)
  • Advanced Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) (Desired)
  • Knowledge of the company’s emergency management processes (Desired)
  • Ability to lead trainings and coach less experienced employees (Desired)
  • Long term planning and scheduling skills (Desired)
