About the role

  • Senior Data Scientist designing and delivering AI models for credit risk optimization at fintech company. Involves collaboration with quantitative risk experts and traders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and optimize advanced machine learning and statistical models that support risk management, pricing and decision-making processes.
  • Lead end-to-end model development initiatives, from problem definition and solution design to production deployment and ongoing monitoring.
  • Design algorithmic solutions that support performance and revenue optimization across Optasia’s products.
  • Develop and evolve model frameworks, methodologies and best practices within the AI team.
  • Work on complex financial products and large-scale decision-making systems, supporting real-time model use cases.
  • Identify, evaluate and validate key model drivers and assumptions using large and complex datasets.
  • Collaborate closely with quantitative risk experts, traders, data engineers and machine learning infrastructure engineers within the Data & Risk department.
  • Ensure model robustness, explainability and alignment with internal governance and risk standards.
  • Act as a technical reference point, clearly communicating model behavior, assumptions and trade-offs to business and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
  • 6–7+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or quantitative risk analysis, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong expertise in advanced machine learning, statistical modeling and optimization techniques.
  • Advanced understanding of credit risk modeling, validation methodologies and portfolio analytics.
  • Strong coding skills in Python & SQL and experience working with large-scale data environments.
  • Proven ability to design and implement production-grade AI models.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure in dynamic, real-time environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and assumptions.
  • Strong judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and highly accountable.
