About the role

High-impact Data Scientist driving complex data projects leveraging AI tools at dLocal, influencing strategic decisions in payments sector.

Responsibilities

End-to-End Project Ownership: Drive the execution of complex, high-impact data projects from ideation to production. You are responsible for ensuring every solution delivers measurable improvements to business performance or customer experience.
The "Better Version" Mindset: Act as a strategic technical consultant. You don’t just follow a brief; you proactively identify business opportunities and challenge stakeholder proposals when a more efficient or impactful data-driven alternative exists.
Impact Quantification: Before writing code, you identify the core components of a request based on expected outcomes. You use rigorous frameworks to predict experiment results and quantify the business value of your proposed solutions.
Technical Deep-Dives: Perform root-cause analysis on a wide range of analytical problems and contribute to incident management. You have the "jump-in" ability to unblock ongoing projects and identify potential development issues before they scale.
Continuous Technical Evolution: Champion best practices and drive internal initiatives for process improvement. You will contribute to the evolution of our technical knowledge base and raise the collective bar.
AI-Accelerated Development: Integrate and champion the use of AI-assisted tooling (LLMs, Copilots, and automated workflows) to boost your development throughput, optimize code quality, and shorten the path from prototype to production.

Technical Mastery & Versatility: 5+ years of hands-on experience in applied ML and Statistics. Beyond Python mastery, you can modify algorithm implementations to adapt to specific needs and develop comfortably across diverse environments.
AI Tooling & Productivity: Proficiency in using AI-driven development tools to enhance coding performance, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate data exploration.
Advanced Analytics & Data Strategy: Strong knowledge of ensemble methods, deep learning. You understand the trade-offs between technologies (Spark, SQL, AWS SageMaker) and choose the right tool for the specific business challenge.
Strategic Stakeholder Influence: Highly effective at engaging with stakeholders at all levels. You influence decision-making through advanced data storytelling and a deep understanding of business objectives.
Self-Driven Execution: Ability to self-manage and prioritize complex project roadmaps across a business vertical, maintaining sharp attention to detail while handling multiple high-priority streams.
Technical proficiency: An experienced team player who possesses a curious, positive attitude toward solving highly ambiguous problems.
Industry Context: Experience in payments or financial systems (specifically Anomaly or Fraud detection) is a major plus.
Language: Advanced English is a must.
