About the role

  • Accountant supporting Group Finance in balance sheet reconciliation and financial control across multiple entities at Oxford Policy Management. Preparing for the 31 March 2026 group year-end audit and engaging with overseas finance managers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Group Finance function in completing a one-off programme of balance sheet reconciliation and strengthening financial control across multiple group entities following the implementation of a new finance system.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations for the UK entity and overseas group entities.
  • Investigate historic unreconciled balances, identify root causes, and prepare adjustment journals where required to bring accounts to a reconciled position.
  • Liaise with overseas finance managers to obtain explanations and supporting information for balances recorded in local ledgers.
  • Review branch loan balances and assess opportunities to clear balances.
  • Assist with the review of overseas entity statutory financial statements prepared by local external accountants or auditors.
  • Ensure any audit adjustments identified through the statutory accounts process are appropriately reflected in the group finance system and that the underlying causes of adjustments are addressed.
  • Prepare audit-ready supporting schedules for key balance sheet accounts and assist with responding to audit queries.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong financial accounting and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
  • Experience working with multi-entity or international groups.
  • Excellent Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a project-based organisation or with project accounting structures would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of accounting issues such as project accruals, deferred income, and work-in-progress balances.
  • Ability to investigate complex accounting issues.
  • Experience with ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 desirable but not essential).
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
