About the role

  • Concept, create, edit and manage engaging social video content for our Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and Facebook Reels channels.
  • Scout and work with NYC-based creators to help cover New York City attractions, culture and events from a tourist-facing POV.
  • Handle the video pre-production process, liaising with internal teams, NYC Tourism partners and members of the local tourism industry.
  • Ensure that all NYC Tourism social videos comply with brand guidelines, including legal requirements.
  • Manage editing workflow with freelance video editor(s).
  • Work with our Legal and Accounts Payable departments to generate and execute contracts with contributors and to process invoices promptly.
  • Shoot and edit occasional video for NYC Tourism social channels, including interviews with various tourism sectors, B2B partners and on the street with the general public.
  • Write strong and engaging copy that connects with a large and diverse audience.
  • Generate and brainstorm ideas with other internal teams.
  • Collaborate with the team to diversify our brand while increasing followership.
  • Ensure a diversity of ideas, perspectives and voices.

Requirements

  • Be based in NYC
  • Have 2+ years’ experience in social media and digital marketing
  • Be able to edit video on desktop/mobile apps such as Premiere, CapCut, InShot, etc.
  • Have impeccable written and verbal communication skills. You're going to contribute to the voice of New York City’s Official Guide and will largely be your own writer, editor and copy editor.
  • Poise, comfort and confidence in talking to a wide variety of New Yorkers (and tourists!) in eliciting on-camera interviews from them.
  • Have solid news judgment, informed by a sincere desire to represent all of NYC in all its diversity, including its people; its many communities, neighborhoods and boroughs; and the sheer abundance of activities, interests and industries that make NYC vibrant.
  • Understand NYC: you’ll be talking to both visitors to NYC and locals, so you need to know the five boroughs well.
  • Have enough familiarity with social metrics to understand what’s working and what’s not.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com, SproutSocial, Later, Excel, a plus.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Maintain a positive mindset and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
