About the role

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist designing mechanical systems and supporting project execution at Nutrien. Involves troubleshooting, cost estimation, and collaboration with stakeholders for mining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs, prototypes, and upgrades using specialized software.
  • Inspect, monitor, and report on project progress and quality.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend improvements to reliability, safety, and productivity.
  • Investigate equipment failures and repetitive problems; recommend corrective design changes.
  • Prepare bills of materials, cost estimates, and requisitions.
  • Track project costs and maintain accurate engineering records, drawings, and equipment files.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Engineering Team and others on scheduling and prioritizing work.
  • Provide direction and supervision to service providers. Ensure all work follows safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • A Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma, Mechanical Engineering Degree, or equivalent.
  • A minimum 2+ years of experience in industrial, plant, mining, or construction environments.
  • Experience in project work, equipment troubleshooting, and maintenance engineering.
  • Proficiency with Inventor or AutoCAD is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and solve complex problems with creativity.
