About the role

  • Optical Manufacturing Test Engineer developing automated manufacturing test solutions for a global Optical Research and Development organization. Providing technical support to manufacturing partners with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Define Manufacturing Test Strategy for cost-effective, automated test solutions for manufacturing of Optical Network Equipment.
  • Develop Functional Test SW and optimize test solutions for efficiency, cost, and yield from NPI to product end of life.
  • Monitor production test yields and data, diagnose process variations, troubleshoot test stations.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing partners. Assist with product failure analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Review and contribute to technical documentation (schematics, design and test specifications, test set layout, test coverage).
  • Interface with product development teams (software, hardware, firmware, optical), Supply Chain and worldwide EMS partners.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in a relevant field (Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, SW Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
  • Experienced with SW development using object-oriented programming: Visual Studio .NET C++, C#.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in SW programming, ATE, electronics, and electrical testing.
  • Experience with Analog and Digital Functional Test Software development for testing of electronic assemblies (Components, PBA, Module, System)
  • Hands-on experience working with electrical/electronic test equipment (meters, power supplies, scopes, analyzers).
  • Hands-on experience with Optical test and measurement instruments: VNA (vector network analyzers), OSA (optical spectrum analyzers), TLS (tunable laser sources), EDFAs, wavelength meters.
  • Knowledge of fiber optics technologies.
  • Ability to perform as an individual contributor and as part of the team.
  • Ability to follow guidelines and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meet deadlines and provide support to the factory to resolve manufacturing test issues.
  • Ambition and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
  • It would be nice if you also had:
  • Familiarity with Python, Linux, scripting, NI LabVIEW, and NI Test stand.
  • Debug and failure root cause analysis skills.
  • Data Analysis: measurement data review to extract parameters and performance metrics.
  • Willingness to periodically travel (domestic and international, less than 10%)
