About the role

  • Infrastructure Engineer responsible for building, monitoring, and securing IT infrastructure for NLACRC. Collaborates with IT personnel and external support to ensure robust infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the building, monitoring, security and support of the IT infrastructure.
  • Works in collaboration with other IT personnel and external support staff to build and maintain a robust IT infrastructure.
  • Designs system infrastructure to meet business requirements in collaboration with architectural resources.
  • Participates in the planning, selection, installation, configuration, and testing of devices, server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, recommending system and operational policies and procedures.
  • Builds, connects and maintains the IT infrastructure such as servers, end user and network devices, virtualization, security, telephony, and software.
  • Provides engineering input on any changes proposed to the existing environment, including the build out of new offices.
  • Ensures security policies are effective and are being followed in the setup and maintenance of the infrastructure whether completed by internal staff or contracted resources.
  • Troubleshoots infrastructure related issues escalated by Level 1 and 2 staff and documents solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date diagrams of the infrastructure environment.
  • Monitors servers and storage performance; designs and implements data protection; ensures backup and recovery processes are viable.
  • Backs-up and recovers the infrastructure.
  • Primary disaster planning, testing and recovery.
  • Primary engineer to respond to security incidents.
  • Administers the Everbridge Mass Communication System.
  • Patches software and hardware to ensure that security requirements are met.
  • Performs other duties as may be needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of IT education and experience preferred.
  • 4 to 6 years of related experience required.
  • 5 to 10 years related experience preferred.
  • Non-profit experience helpful.
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred.
  • A valid California Driver’s License and transportation, or acceptable substitute, and minimum liability insurance required.
  • Knowledge Building, configuring, upgrading and supporting server farms in a Microsoft/VMware environment.
  • Experience setting up secure environments that meet compliance requirements, identifying and remediating problems with security configurations and responding to security incidents.
  • Installing, configuring, upgrading and supporting SharePoint and MS SQL environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft service administration tools and protocols.
  • Advanced knowledge of the interaction between servers, security, network, and applications.
  • Demonstrated capability troubleshooting problems across multiple environments.
  • Experience supporting MS Exchange and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with virtual backup tools such as Datto.
  • Experience setting up co-location a plus.
  • Experience setting up and supporting virtual desktops such as Citrix is a plus.
