Responsibilities
- Comprehensive onboarding in claims handling within the healthcare sector and the healthcare industry in general
- Leadership, development and training of our claims team in Detmold
- Independent handling of claims in the healthcare sector and hospital liability area, providing comprehensive advice and support to our clients, particularly in medical malpractice claims for both insured and uninsured cases
- Review and determination of factual and liability issues, especially in the area of hospital liability
- Negotiations with claimants, hospital operators and insurers in out-of-court matters
- Analysis of claims to identify loss patterns and to develop process improvement measures
- Development of prevention measures to minimize liability risks
- Digital data capture for analysis of recorded claims
Requirements
- Successfully completed degree in law with at least two satisfactorily passed state examinations, preferably with additional qualification as a specialist lawyer for Medical Law (Fachanwalt für Medizinrecht)
- Several years of professional experience in claims handling in the healthcare sector, hospitals and medical malpractice claims, either as an attorney or with a broker or insurance company
- Excellent knowledge of medical malpractice law/medical law and the healthcare sector, with understanding of all applicable laws and monitoring and implementing relevant changes
- Experience in people management would be an advantage
- Business-fluent German and good English skills
- Willingness to travel
