About the role

  • Workflow Management Developer at Mercator Ocean designing and maintaining robust automated workflows for operational ocean forecasting systems. Working within scientific production chains to ensure performance and reliability in HPC environments.

Responsibilities

  • Industrialization and production deployment of forecasting workflows: evaluate and improve existing prototypes, optimize scripts and configurations, set up monitoring, and perform the necessary testing.
  • Migration of applications to workflow engines: analyze existing applications, define priorities, design and deploy workflows adapted to HPC constraints, and support their progressive rollout into the production environment.
  • Ensuring performance and operational reliability: optimize the use of HPC resources, manage complex dependencies, conduct performance and robustness tests, and ensure service continuity.
  • Supporting teams: train, assist, and advise developers, operators, and administrators; provide technical support; produce documentation; and contribute to capturing and sharing best practices.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (BAC+5) or equivalent: university degree in a scientific field or engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in HPC workflow management for numerical forecasting systems
  • Proficiency with workflow engines (CYLC, ecFlow, AutoSubmit)
  • Scientific programming (Fortran, Python, Shell)
  • Strong knowledge of HPC environments and their constraints
  • Familiarity with operational oceanography and forecasting science
  • Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
