About the role

  • Paralegal assisting in property damage recovery claims for major insurers at a leading UK law firm. Collaborative environment with flexible work encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • The team has a particular focus Claimant recoveries and the work that the team does will involve advising a number of well-known insurers on issues of funding, prospects of success, evidential matters arising from fires, floods and other perils.
  • This is an assisting role and you will not be required to handle a case load in your own right.
  • You will be working on delegated tasks on files belonging to the wider team.
  • Key accountabilities for role will include:
  • Chasing documents
  • Collating documents for lawyers needed to consider strategy
  • Diarising Court orders and other critical dates
  • Arranging conferences
  • Arranging Counsel and other expert attendances
  • Legal research & completing factual chronologies
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations
  • Dealing with routine correspondence
  • Investigating claims and considering prospects of recovery
  • Communicating effectively with lay and insurer clients
  • Completing investigations including obtaining fire brigade reports, MID searches, loss adjuster reports and further evidence
  • Liaising with loss adjusters and experts

Requirements

  • Degree level education and/or Post graduate
  • An ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work with case management systems
  • The personal skills to deal with competing demands of your team of lawyers
  • ****Desirable**
  • Previous experience of working in a team which handles insurance claims
  • Knowledge of the sorts of disputes dealt with by the PRC team
