About the role

  • Senior Underwriting Consultant at Manulife, leading training programs for new hires and enhancing underwriting processes. Involves compliance monitoring, risk management, and developing training content.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of training programs for new and existing staff
  • Development of learning materials and coordinate all training logistics
  • Ensure and maintain Manulife's proprietary underwriting manual and other knowledge/reference documents reflect current processes and philosophy
  • Drive audits and quality reviews of underwriting tools and decisions
  • Own Governance Activities: managing system access and maintaining data integrity
  • Manage information disclosures and dispute resolution, ensuring compliance with industry regulations
  • Participate in compliance activities and monitor adherence to industry standards
  • Contribute to Research & Development initiatives and business monitoring exercises

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum 7 years of comprehensive underwriting experience
  • Advanced understanding of underwriting functions, including risk assessment and decision-making processes
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs and materials
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines
  • Proficiency in managing digital auditing tools and systems such as Digital Owl and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated informal leadership abilities
  • Expertise in medical science and its impact on mortality and morbidity
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint)
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset if located in Québec
